CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS - 10/24/2011 & 11/14/2011
The Local’s Negotiating team has met the Contractor’s side twice in the past month. The first meeting was on October 24th and again on November 14th. The October 24th meeting was semi-productive. We were able to agree on a few lingering items. Our next meeting was not as productive. We met for several hours in the hopes of making more progress. No progress was made. The Negotiating Committee will give a detailed report at the November 30th meeting. We will update the website when another meeting is scheduled.

UNION BUSINESS UPDATE - 10/4/2011

Next regular scheduled meeting for Sprinkler Fitters Local 704 is November 9, 2011 at 8 PM. at the Local Union Hall. The Executive Board will meet the same night at 6:30 PM.

Allocation of monies will be held from Noon until 7 PM at the December meeting.

An application for The Fore Joe Financial Hardship Fund is available at this link and at the Hall. The deadline for applications is November 4, 2011.

SUB Fund Update: After a special called meeting Tuesday October 4, 2011 the SUB Fund trustees met to discuss the paying of benefits to unemployed members. Members who worked for a contractor who has signed an interim agreement and were laid off after August 1st are eligible for benefits after September 15th. The reasoning behind September 15th date is that was the day the Local made an unconditional offer to return to work. Any benefits before that date are being denied because it was against guidelines in the current SUB Fund Trust Document (revised back in the 1980’s). Please be advised that the SUB Fund Trust Document will be amended to include the below voted upon change.

Any member who was working for a contractor, who has since been locked out, is now available to collect SUB Fund benefits effective October 4, 2011. The reasoning behind the October 4th date comes from a vote taken of the Trustees to Amend the Trust Document to include locked out members. Any further questions please contact the Hall.

Please remember to remain current with your MUST modules and drug test to enhance your chances of employment.

A speedy recovery to all of our sick and injured members.
